Sudden cardiac arrest is a leading cause of death in Europe, affecting about 700,000 individuals a year. Many victims of sudden cardiac arrest can survive if bystanders act immediately; electrical defibrillation is well established as the only effective therapy for cardiac arrest. The chance of survival diminishes by between 7-10% for every minute the casualty does not receive defibrillation.
This 3 hour Level 2 Award in the Safe Use of an Automated External Defibrillator (QAR) course is aimed at individuals who are responsible for using AED defibrillation equipment. It is ideal for individuals who have had no previous training on the AED defibrillation or for those that require refresher training.
The course covers:

- The practice management of the patient in cardiac arrest with CPR and early defibrillation.
The course is assessed by practical assessment and successful candidates receive a Qualsafe Awards certificate which is valid for 12 months.
