Video-gamer is now flying as an apprentice drone pilot

A young video-gamer‘s Dreamcast and PlayStation years have served him well - they’re now helping him train to be a drone pilot.

Joshua Fisher-Lambert, 19, is an Apprentice Trainee Surveyor with Quantum Survey Management on Brightside Lane and is thought to be one of the first to soon be operating the industry’s latest tool - remotely-piloted aircraft systems fitted with specialist cameras that cost thousands and can measure huge areas in minutes.

The Source Apprentice Wins National Apprenticeship Award

Source apprentice, April Bell from Monica F Hewitt, has beaten off competition from entrants across the region to win the Yorkshire and the Humber final of the National Apprenticeship Awards 2015.

April, 21, who works as an apprentice at Monica F Hewitt fought off stiff competition in the region to be judging in the hope of becoming a national finalist.

The Source Learners climb from Traineeship to Apprenticeship

Two students from The Source Skills Academy, Amy Ibbotson, aged 21, and Paige Towey, aged 22, have successfully completed their traineeships and secured apprenticeships with a top national firm.

Amy and Paige, both from the Sheffield City Region, made it through the assessment stages to secure Customer Service apprenticeships with KNOWHOW’s Sheffield-based contact centre. They will be joining a team of 1,400 employees providing support for Currys and PC world.
